Jefferson City is the Capital City of Missouri, located on the banks of the Missouri River amidst rolling hills, majestic architecture and towering river bluffs in a small-town setting filled with historic charm. In addition to being the seat of state government, Jefferson City with a population of 40,000 is home to over 140 state associations and several large industries. Its central location and affordability make it a popular destination for family and business travel alike. Jefferson City hosts numerous conventions and sporting events as well as an outstanding July 4th celebration.

Jefferson City had the privilege of serving as both a stage start and a sprint line community in the 2007 Tour of Missouri and a stage finish in 2008. The city has overwhelmingly supported this event and continues to welcome the cycling community with open arms. In 2008 estimated crowds surpassed 40,000, creating a fun and exciting environment to watch the Tour's world-class athletes race through the streets. We invite everyone to join in the festivities in 2009 as we rekindle the enthusiasm as a stage finish city.

"As the state's capitol, Jefferson City has the unique privilege of serving as the seat of state government as well as the focal point of tremendous statewide events such as Tour of Missouri. Jefferson City is extremely proud to participate as a three time alumni city in the 2009 Tour of Missouri as the stage four finish city."
