Local Organization
We appreciated the economic impact on Springfield, but also feel that the intangible impact was just as significant. As Missouri's third-largest metro area, we think this is the type of major community event that adds to the quality of our urban fabric. It promoted wellness and showcased our center city, which benefited from thousands of additional people coming downtown on a weekday afternoon. We hope to build on this event in future years with even more participation from the business community and from new and old fans of cycling.
- Mayor Tom Carlson, Mayor of the city of Springfield
