Jefferson City is the Capital City of Missouri, located on the banks of the Missouri River amidst rolling hills, majestic architecture and towering river bluffs in a small-town setting filled with historic charm. In addition to being the seat of state government, Jefferson City with a population of 40,000 is home to over 140 state associations and several large industries. Its central location and affordability make it a popular destination for family and business travel alike. Jefferson City hosts numerous conventions and sporting events as well as an outstanding July 4th celebration.
Jefferson City had the privilege of serving as both a stage start and a sprint line community in the 2007 Tour of Missouri. The city welcomed the cycling community with open arms and created a fun and exciting environment to watch the Tour's world-class athletes race through the streets. We invite everyone to join in the festivities in 2008 as we rekindle the enthusiasm as a stage finish city.

As the capital city it is our honor and duty to be a focal point for any statewide event, especially one which involves other communities throughout Missouri. We are very excited to have the opportunity to show visitors from across the state and around the world how we can roll out the red carpet as a "finish" city.
John Landwehr, Mayor of Jefferson City
