2009 Tour of Missouri Pro Cycling Race Kicks Off with Fun and Festivities

Celebrate with Kids Bike Races, Cook Offs, Entertainment and More

Race, don’t walk to the 2009 Tour of Missouri where cyclists will begin the competition Monday, September 7 in St. Louis. But hold on to your seats, because the activities and events begin Friday, September 04, 2009 in St. Louis and other cities around the state. Please find a complete list of events below.

The race will be contested over seven days and seven stages. There will be two circuit races (St. Louis, Kansas City), one individual time trial (Sedalia), and four point to-point road races (Ste. Genevieve to Cape Girardeau; Farmington to Rolla; St. James to Jefferson City; Chillicothe to St. Joseph). The race is sanctioned by USA Cycling and UCI, the international governing body for the sport.

Craig Thomas, a Street Chalk Artist will be working on Columbia Street, on a chalk masterpiece in honor of the Stage 3 Start of the Tour of Missouri, sponsored by Mineral Area Council on the Arts. Fans are invited to bring a chair and watch the artist at work.
